Located at 101 Herricks Rd, New Hyde Park, NY 11040, Orient Garden operates as a dim sum serving New Hyde Park in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amโ€“9 pm. Orient Garden is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant on Long Island that consistently delivers delicious Chinese cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the food is prepared fresh, arrives promptly, and offers excellent value for the generous portions. The menu includes a wide variety of classic Chinese favorites, from General Tsoโ€™s Chicken and Beef with Broccoli to Lo Mein, fried rice, and fresh seafood dishes. The ingredients are fresh, the vegetables remain crisp, and the sauces are flavorful without being overly heavy. The hot and sour soup and homemade egg rolls are excellent starters that complement any meal.

It is a filthy place. We were seated at a large table with food scraps on the table and seats. The fried noodles were served free, but we found a hair in the duck sauce. My mom went to the lady's room but out of toilet paper. 20 minutes after we told the waitor, they still did not replenish it. The food is average, subpar compared to any restaurant in Flushing. We won't go there again.

Decent traditional Cantonese dim sum on the island for those who miss or want to โ€œyum cha.โ€ Save time trekking out to queens, looking for parking, and waiting on long weekend lines just to sit down and drink your first tea after 2 hours, while you can be done here asap. Free parking lot, roll in, no lines, and eat! The food tasted traditional flavor, but some lacking flavor- the chicken chow mein was straight up bland with no msg whatsoever. The portion sizes are larger, along with the prices tho. All in all, a decent spot to satisfy the dim sum tongue in Long Island for the local!

Food is traditional and portions good sized. Twin lobster special is great value. Go early to not run out of dim sum selection. Welcome alternative to a drive to Flushing. Server was attentive and well spoken. Pricing is reasonable. Parking can be challenging, lot in front and back can get full. Street parking is avail.

Orient Garden is a solid Long Island option for good dim sum, and Iโ€™m grateful thereโ€™s parking โ€” even if the lot is a little tight. Itโ€™s nice not to have to trek into the city for classic dishes done well. The restaurant was clearly understaffed during our visit, and the space wasnโ€™t the cleanest. We were given a few dirty plates and cups, though they did replace them when asked. The staff felt a bit overwhelmed, so service was on the slower, more chaotic side. That said, the dim sum was very good, and the lobster noodle special was delicious. When the food landed, it delivered. Overall, a place with strong dishes and some operational rough edges โ€” worth it if youโ€™re craving dim sum without the drive to Flushing or Manhattan, but go in with a little patience.
